Hank

Last updated: 2026-09-28

An AI research desk and active-investing software product for fundamental equity investors.

Hank turns SEC filings, transcripts, your own research and your Excel models into sourced, review-ready investment work — earnings notes, model updates, thesis tests — on a living investment book that you control. The software proposes; you review, approve and act. Hank is used by individual investors and by investment firms, each on their own accounts.

Hank is not a robo-advisor or a public portfolio tracker, and it does not provide investment advice.

1. How Hank uses your brokerage connection

You connect a brokerage account through SnapTrade's secure connection flow. You enter your brokerage login in SnapTrade's or your broker's own interface — Hank never sees, receives or stores your brokerage username or password.

Reading your account (the everyday use)

Hank reads your account list, holdings and positions, balances, transaction history and orders, and uses them for portfolio analytics and research context: exposure, concentration, and how your positions line up with your theses. Reading your account never triggers a trade.

Trading — only if you choose it, and only one approved order at a time

2. What Hank is not

Hank is not a registered investment adviser, broker-dealer, financial planner, tax adviser, attorney or fiduciary. Nothing in Hank is investment, financial, trading, tax or legal advice, or a recommendation to buy, sell or hold any security. Hank does not recommend the trades you place, exercises no discretion over your account, does not manage money, and does not custody funds or securities. You make, approve and execute every investment decision on your own account.

3. Where your data goes

Hank shares specific data with the providers it needs to deliver the service. Each operates under its own terms and privacy policy. The Privacy Policy is the full statement.

ProviderWhat they receiveWhy
SnapTrade The OAuth handshake with your broker; your orders, when you approve them on a trading connection. Brokerage connection: positions, transactions, account metadata; order routing.
Plaid Your brokerage login, entered in Plaid's own interface. Brokerage connection (positions, transactions, balances).
Charles Schwab, Interactive Brokers (only if enabled for your account) The credentials or tokens you provide. Direct brokerage connection.
Anthropic (Claude) Your chat messages and the context the AI works from, which may include portfolio holdings and transactions, tool results, and agent memory; portfolio analysis results Hank asks it to summarize; security names and tickers to classify; and documents you ask Hank to read. AI chat responses, portfolio interpretation and summaries, asset classification, and document reading.
OpenAI A ticker symbol, company name, and industry, to suggest peer companies; the text of your agent memory notes and your memory searches, to index and search them; and, for quantitative research studies, the study request and the market data it analyzes. If you choose an OpenAI model for a conversation, that conversation's context as described for Anthropic. Peer-group suggestions for risk analysis, memory search, quantitative research, and chat when you select an OpenAI model.
Financial Modeling Prep Ticker symbols and date ranges — no personal information. Market and reference data.
SEC EDGAR Filing identifiers and ticker symbols — no personal information. Public filings.
Google Your sign-in token only. Signing you in.
Amazon Web Services All service data. Hosting, encrypted storage, key management.

AI providers. Each AI provider handles the data it receives under its own terms and privacy policy for the account in use; those terms govern whether and how long the provider retains that data and whether it may use it to improve or train its models. AI chat and document reading run through the Anthropic account attached to your session. If that is your own Claude subscription or Anthropic API key, your agreement with Anthropic governs that data; for a Claude subscription (Anthropic's Consumer Terms and Privacy Policy), that includes the model-training setting in your Claude account. Where Hank provides the chat, it runs on Hank's Anthropic API account under Anthropic's Commercial Terms, which do not permit Anthropic to train its models on that data. Portfolio interpretation, summaries, and asset classification run on Hank's Anthropic API account under the same Commercial Terms. All OpenAI use runs on Hank's OpenAI API account, governed by the OpenAI Services Agreement and OpenAI's Privacy Policy.

Hank does not sell your data, share it for advertising, share data between users, or provide your data to anyone for the purpose of training models, and Hank does not train its own AI models on your data. Hank uses no third-party analytics, advertising trackers or fingerprinting.
